Abstract
Epithelial ovarian cancer is the most common cause of death for gynecologic malignancy among women in the US, typically reflecting advanced-stage disease at the clinical diagnosis. Over the last few decades, the use of interval surgery after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) in patients with unresectable disease or in patients with poor functional status has been proposed to increase the rate of the optimal debulking and reduce the number of complications. Laparoscopic cytoreduction in patients with advanced ovarian cancer after NACT, when performed by skilled surgeons is feasible and may decrease the morbidity associated with more invasive surgery.
