Palladium-Catalyzed Chemo- and Regioselective C-H Bond Acylation of Pyridine N-Oxides with Benzyl halides and Alcohols

A palladium-catalyzed ortho- C-H bond acylation of pyridine N- oxides with readily available benzyl halides and benzyl alcohols as the active acylating agents is described. This procedure provides a new approach to 2-acylpyridine N-oxides as precursors for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
