Abstract
In the article "Photobiomodulation devices for hair regrowth and wound healing: a therapy full of promise but a literature full of confusion", the authors identified important limitations in our knowledge and study of photobiomodulation (PBM) for hair growth. While describing novel and potential mechanisms of action, and pointing out wavelengths possibly more effective in achieving PBM responses (1,s1) the authors recognize important informational deficiencies impeding PBM optimization. Equally important were revelations about widely variant radiant densities (dosing) recommended by device manufacturers, as noted in table S1 of the article. Related to these observations, but perhaps unrecognized, are regulatory and cost factors influencing optical parameters.
