Risk Factors for Recurrent Anaphylaxis-Related ED Visits in the United States

Anaphylaxis is an acute systemic allergic reaction that may be life-threatening1. Patients with a history of anaphylaxis live with a chronic risk of relapse with the subsequent event being unpredictable. In one of the earliest studies examining anaphylaxis recurrence, Mullins2 reported that one in twelve patients with anaphylaxis will experience recurrence and one in fifty will require adrenaline or hospital attention.
