Abstract
We read with interest the article by Chen et al that proposes a new term "pigmented carpotarsal hyperkeratosis" for "symmetrical acral keratoderma" or "symmetrical acrokeratoderma (SAK)". Aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) is the most abundant aquaglyceroporin in human epidermis, and regulates skin hydration, keratinocyte migration and proliferation, wound healing, and tumorigenesis. Although skin hydration was decreased with incremental transepidermal water loss (TEWL) in SAK, AQP3 expression is unreported in SAK.
