Floating right ventricular thrombus with bilateral pulmonary embolism in the absence of deep vein thrombosis and structural heart disease—a case report

Abstract

Occurrence of a thrombus in the right heart is usually attributed to clots migrating from the deep venous system of the lower limbs. The presence of right heart thrombus in the absence of structural cardiac abnormalities and cardiac rhythm disturbances is rare. Here, we present an unusual occurrence of free-floating right ventricular thrombus with bilateral pulmonary embolism in the absence of a documented deep vein thrombosis and structural heart disease.
