Multiferroics: Realization of Large Electric Polarization and Strong Magnetoelectric Coupling in BiMn3Cr4O12 (Adv. Mater. 44/2017)

A novel A-site ordered quadruple perovskite oxide BiMn₃Cr₄O₁₂ is prepared using high-pressure and high-temperature techniques, as described in article number 1703435 by Youwen Long and co-workers. Both type-I and type-II multiferroic phases are found to occur in this single-phase compound, giving rise to large ferroelectric polarization and a strong magnetoelectric effect.
