Carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae of sequence type 36 [PublishAheadOfPrint]

ST36 Klebsiella pneumoniae distributes worldwide. We found that a ST36 K. pneumoniae clinical isolate was carbapenem resistant, carried bla_KPC-2, had mucoid regulator gene rmpA and exhibited high virulence. The findings suggest the emergence of carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent K. pneumoniae of ST36 and surveillance on carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent K. pneumoniae is required.
