CD8 resident memory T cells with IL‐17A‐producing potential are accumulated in disease‐naïve non‐lesional sites of psoriasis possibly in correlation with disease duration

Abstract

Human skin is populated by non‐recirculating resident memory T cells (T_RM) which are characterized by the expression of surface molecules such as CD49a, CD69 and CD103^1,2. In psoriasis, CD8 T_RM in lesional (L) and resolved skin demonstrate IL‐17‐skewed phenotype^3‐6. A skin‐grafted mouse model also proved the importance of CD8 T cells in disease initiation⁷.
